Indian Constitution envisages on three types of emergency –
- Article 352 talks about National Emergency that can be imposed on the ground of external aggression and armed rebellion. With the proclamation of emergency our Constitution becomes unitary in nature. All its federal provisions cease to function.
- Article 356 of the Constitution describes State emergency on the ground of failure of state emergency.
- Article 360 of the Constitution describes financial emergency on the ground of threat to the financial stability or credit of India. No financial emergency has been imposed yet.
